Understanding the funding sources

Overview
In Found, every billing contract template needs at least one funding source. The funding source is a specific entity or personal resource responsible for paying care services, (for example, a private payer, a local authority, or the NHS). Found controls which funding sources you can select on a template based on the type of funder the template is built for:
Individual funder contracts — templates not linked to an organisation.
Organisation contracts — templates linked to an organisation, where the available funding sources depend on that organisation's category (e.g. local authority, NHS trust, Business national, and so on).
This article lists every funding source available in Found and shows which ones appear for each funder type, so you can choose the right option when setting up a new billing contract template.
Funding sources available in Found
Found supports the following funding sources on billing contract templates:

Top-up contribution | A top-up paid on top of another funding source, not paid for by the resident themselves. |
Client contribution | The client's assessed contribution towards their care. |
Lifestyle supplement | An additional lifestyle-related contribution. |
1:1 care | One-to-one care funding. |
Annuity | Annuity-based funding. |
Local authority contribution | The local authority's contribution towards care fees. |
Local authority 12-week disregard | The 12-week property disregard period funded by the local authority. |
Local authority deferred payment agreement | A deferred payment agreement held with the local authority. |
Free personal and nursing care (FPNC) | Statutory free personal and nursing care funding. |
Free personal care (FPC) | Statutory free personal care funding. |
Funded nursing care (FNC) | NHS-funded nursing care contribution. |
NHS continuing healthcare (CHC) | NHS continuing healthcare funding for residents who qualify. |

When you build a billing contract template against an organisation, Found filters the funding source list based on the organisation's category.
Individual funder (template not linked to an organisation)
Used when the template's funder is an individual rather than an organisation.

Frequently asked questions
Q: Where do I pick a funding source? A: On a billing contract template. Each template stores one or more funding sources, which describe what the contributions on the template are for.
Q: Can I add more than one funding source to a single template? A: Yes. The funding sources field on a billing contract template accepts multiple values.
Q: Why don't I see "Annuity" on a template I'm building for a local business or charity? A: Annuity is only offered for individual funder templates and for organisations in the Business national category. It isn't shown for Business local, Charity, Community group, Education, Faith, GP, Private healthcare, or Other.
Q: Why don't I see NHS funding sources on my private business template? A: NHS continuing healthcare and Funded nursing care are restricted to organisations in the relevant public-sector categories (Local authority, NHS trust, NHS board / health board, and NHS integrated care board).
Q: My organisation is a "Local authority" — why does the list also include NHS continuing healthcare and Funded nursing care? A: Local authority contracts in Found include the full set of statutory and NHS-aligned funding sources, because local authority billing often covers care that is partly funded by the NHS.
Q: What if I change the organisation linked to the template? A: The list of available funding sources updates to match the new organisation's category. Review the selected sources after the change to make sure they're still valid.
Q: I can't find the organisation category I need — what should I do? A: Found's organisation categories are: Business local, Business national, Charity, Community group, Education, Faith, GP, Local authority, NHS board / health board, NHS integrated care board, NHS trust, Private healthcare, and Other. Pick the closest match, or use Other if none apply.
Q: Are the funding source options the same on individual funder contracts and Business national contracts? A: Yes — both offer Private contribution, Top-up contribution, Client contribution, Lifestyle supplement, 1:1 care, and Annuity.
