Viewing a billing contract subscription history
Last updated: May 27, 2026
Overview
The billing contract subscription history gives you a complete record of contribution changes for a service user's subscription.
Each time a contribution amount is added, adjusted, or cancelled, Found logs the change with a timestamp and the name of the user who made it.
This makes it straightforward to understand what a funder is currently being charged, what they were charged previously, and when any changes took effect.
What is a subscription history?
A subscription sits within a billing contract and links a funder to a service user's booking. Over the life of that subscription, the contribution amount may change — for example, when a local authority increases their rate, or a private funder adjusts their top-up.
Each contribution record captures:
Amount — the monetary value per contribution unit (daily, weekly, or annual)
Effective date — the date from which this amount applies
End date — the day before the next contribution begins, or the subscription end date
Status — whether the contribution is current, past, future, or cancelled
Notes — any free-text reason recorded at the time of the change
Created / updated — the date, time, and name of the user who made the change
Contribution statuses
Each contribution in the history has one of the following statuses:
Status | Meaning |
Current | The active contribution in effect today |
Future | A contribution with an applicable date in the future, not yet in effect |
Past | A contribution that was previously current but has since been superseded |
Cancelled | A contribution that was cancelled before or after it became active |

Frequently asked questions
Q: Can I see who changed a contribution? A: Yes. Every contribution record shows the name of the user who created it and, if it was subsequently edited, the name of the user who last updated it.
Q: What happens to the previous contribution when I add a new one? A: The previous contribution's status changes to "past". Its end date is automatically set to the day before the new contribution's applicable date.
Q: Can I edit a cancelled contribution? A: No. Once a contribution is cancelled, it cannot be modified.
Q: How do I see changes to contributions across all service users at once? A: Use the contribution changes view within a billing contract. You can filter by location, funding source, organisation, contract type, and status, and export the results.
Q: Is there a record of when a subscription was paused? A: Yes. Each time a subscription is placed on hold or resumed, Found creates a hold record with the date, reason, and the name of the user responsible.
Q: What does "pause invoice generation" mean on a hold? A: When a subscription is put on hold with invoice generation paused, Found will not generate new invoices for that subscription until it is resumed.
Q: Can a subscription have both a "future" and a "current" contribution at the same time? A: Yes. It is valid to have a current contribution in effect today and one or more future contributions already scheduled to take effect on upcoming dates.
